The embroidery series Sleepers explores the themes of dreaming, tranquility, and physical exhaustion. The artist combines textile materials such as satin and chiffon with glass beads, which animate the fabric’s surface in soft light. The resulting works feel both fragile and intimate—acting as visual diaries where touch, breath, and thought are transformed into a visible structure. The piece A Small Gesture captures a subtle movement, a hint of contact or touch that occurs intuitively within sleep.
About author
Kateřina Šťastná (*1993) belongs to the young generation of artists. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Her work has long focused on physicality. She is interested in the relationship that arises at the moment of inhalation between our body and the space that surrounds it. Her work ranges from drawing to bead embroidery and sculpture. Her work radiates both fragility and strength.
