Porcelain figurine of a sleeper, originating from a series in which the artist explored the positions our bodies naturally relax into during sleep. She realized that this is an intimate moment—perhaps the only one during the day—when we lose conscious control over the posture of our own body. The specific and varied positions captivated her with their immediate authenticity.
About author
Kateřina Šťastná (*1993) belongs to the young generation of artists. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Her work has long focused on physicality. She is interested in the relationship that arises at the moment of inhalation between our body and the space that surrounds it. Her work ranges from drawing to bead embroidery and sculpture. Her work radiates both fragility and strength.
