The ceramic sculpture Side by Side II captures a gestural trace—an imprint of invisible movement. For the artist, this is more important than the actual form of the body. She works with a stylized, simplified figure that records breath, motion, and the present sensation of the body, while the roundness and curvature of the form are free from anatomical rules. Each object generates a visual and spatial effect—a subtle tension, intimacy, and rhythm between form and space. The works combine a personal record of the moment with material presence, inviting the viewer into a meditative perception of space.
About author
Kateřina Šťastná (*1993) belongs to the young generation of artists. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Her work has long focused on physicality. She is interested in the relationship that arises at the moment of inhalation between our body and the space that surrounds it. Her work ranges from drawing to bead embroidery and sculpture. Her work radiates both fragility and strength.
