Lukáš Novák
Lukáš Novák (*1987) is a contemporary artist and conceptual glassmaker, whose work is based on the tradition of Nový Bor. He studied at UMPRUM in the glass studio of Rony Plesl. He began his career as a designer of vases, tableware, and lighting for brands such as Rückl and Lasvit. Currently, he focuses primarily on creating original artistic objects. The first significant step in this direction was the series of wall-mounted crystals Pretty Mirage, which he continues to develop. A characteristic feature of his work is the exploration of light and optical illusion. Through optical glass, he creates effects that balance between visual mystification and formal precision. He experiments with glass, explores its boundaries, and at the same time honors the Czech craft tradition. He perceives glass as a medium capable of conveying emotions and ideas through forms and stories.
Lukáš Novák has presented his work at numerous international exhibitions and fairs, and his works are represented in private collections in the Czech Republic and abroad, for example, in the collection of the Kunstgewerbemuseum in Dresden.
