The Sun and the Moon are the oldest phenomena humans have ever observed. They measured time, governed harvests, and gave rise to myths and rituals. They existed before writing, and their presence in human thought has continued unbroken to this day. The artist draws on this inheritance and transforms it into physical form. Her sculptures work with the tension between opposites we know well from life. Day and night, stillness and motion, what we see and what we sense. This is not abstract philosophy. It is an experience each of us carries, and one that connects us to people across centuries. The sculptures are an invitation to pause and look at these phenomena again, as if for the first time.
About author
Pavlína Kvita (*1988) is one of the talented younger sculptors who bring a fresh perspective to contemporary art. Her sculptures work with the traditional scheme of free-standing plastic art, and the resulting material is mainly glass concrete or artificial stone. In her latest works, we encounter a specific anthropomorphic organicity that stands out for its economical form and plasticity. Her works have been presented at a number of exhibitions in the Czech Republic and abroad.
