Jan Kovářík

Jan Kovařík (*1980) is a Czech sculptor whose work straddles the boundary between organic and geometric forms. He graduated from the Sculpture Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, where he studied under Jindřich Zeithamml and Milan Knížák. Kovářík has long been interested in the relationship between matter, space, and color. His artistic work encompasses a wide range of sculptural forms, from contemplative objects to biomorphic works. The objects are often polychromed with a unique color treatment and are characterized by masterful craftsmanship and aesthetic perfection. His repertoire includes spatial, hanging, chamber, and monumental works. Jan Kovářík is a distinctive artist who brings a new perspective on sculpture and its possibilities through his work.

He came to public attention, for example, thanks to the monument to Maria Theresa in Hradčany, Prague (2020). His works are represented in important institutional and private art collections. He collaborates with renowned architectural studios and has been awarded in many competitions for designs for public spaces.
