Vlastimil Šenkýř’s vase collection expands upon the Lovas series, straddling the line between fine and applied art. In it, the artist creates fictional, synthetic minerals that evoke geological structures from another dimension.

At the core of each object is a hand-blown glass body onto which the artist applies his own signature technique combining acrylic glass (Plexiglas) and sugar. The Multicolor series features bold horizontal layering and wrapping of material in a rich color palette. The overlapping structures form a tactile, three-dimensional relief on the glass base, bringing glassmaking tradition and material-focused experimentation into dialogue. Each piece is a hand-shaped, one-of-a-kind original.

About author

Vlastimil Šenkýř (*1990) is a Czech glass artist and designer whose distinctive work bridges the gap between fine and applied art. He is a graduate of the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Art and Design in Pilsen (“Sutnarka”) and UMPRUM in Prague, where he studied in the Glass Studio under Rony Plesl. In his work, he seamlessly connects hand-blown glass, custom jewelry design, and ceramics. The central motif of his practice is continuous material experimentation through which he explores the boundaries of mediums, visual illusions, and the relationship between natural and synthetic structures. Šenkýř’s signature style blends traditional craft with modern technologies, characterized by meticulous workmanship, subtle pastel color palettes, and sophisticated details. Through his innovative approach, he ranks among the prominent representatives of the emerging generation of Czech glass design.
