Viktor Frešo
Viktor Frešo (*1974) is a visual and conceptual artist whose work combines painting, photography, objects, and works in public spaces. In his work, he explores the relationship between the author, the audience, and the artistic environment. He studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. He later moved to Prague to study at the Academy of Fine Arts, where he first studied painting under Vladimír Skrepl and then new media under Michael Bielický. Already at the time of beginning his studies in classical sculpture, he reevaluated his view of contemporary art, which led him to abandon the use of traditional materials and media. He began working primarily with self-portraits in various forms. His work and overall approach to contemporary art consists of creating so-called concepts and projects in which he is critical of the contemporary art scene with an undertone of lightness and humor.
His works have been exhibited in a number of galleries in the Czech Republic and abroad. In his work, he emphasizes his ego and self-irony.
