Pasta Oner

Pasta Oner (*1979) emerged from the strong generation of writers of the nineties and is thus one of the most significant artists associated with the original Czech graffiti scene. From the world of the streets, he gradually transitioned — as a self-taught artist — to studio work, in which he has long drawn on pop art, street art and cartoon aesthetics, as well as on specific works by Old Masters, which he enjoys combining with these modern movements. Classic pop art themes in the form of symbols of consumer society, wealth, luxury brands, disposable beauty and sex are woven into the current context of today’s rapidly evolving cyber society, as well as pressing social and political issues. Straddling the line between pictorial banality and seriousness, he reveals both the bright and dark sides of our civilisation and, through it, the duality of good and evil within ourselves. In addition to acrylic painting, Pasta Oner works with objects and installations, and frequently returns to the public urban environment through large-scale murals.

His works are held in the collections of the Museum Kampa and COLLETT Prague | Munich. Solo exhibitions include the Aleš South Bohemian Gallery (2019), Villa Pellé gallery (2021), Museum Kampa (2020), and Danubiana in Bratislava (2020). He also represented the Czech Republic at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.
