Michal Cimala

Michal Cimala (*1975) is a prominent figure on the contemporary art scene, combining art, design, and music into a unique expression. He studied at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague in the Metal and Jewelry studio of Vratislav Karel Novák. He later worked as an assistant in the Sculpture I studio of Jaroslav Róna and Lukáš Rittstein. Cimala is a co-founder of the Trafačka and Trafo Gallery art studios.

The author’s key interest in connecting different areas of interest is clearly evident in a series of experimental musical objects. He also creates glass and bronze busts of an intimate nature, as well as monumental works for public spaces. In addition to objects and sculptures, the author also devotes himself to painting. His work focuses on disturbing images of the present and speculative visions of the near future. He draws on industrial aesthetics, which is not only a source of inspiration for him, but also a means of sustainable approach in contemporary art. 

The artist regularly exhibits in Czech and foreign galleries and at art fairs.
